Bridgewater State softball drops two to Wheaton College

-Yesterday in collegiate softball action, the Bridgewater State College Bears were swept by Wheaton College, at Wheaton. The softball team lost the first game 0-8 and the second 0-12. In losing to Wheaton College the BSC softball team falls to 7-8-1 (0-2 in MASCAC) on the season.

In the first game, Wheaton College freshman Andrea Bagley held Bridgewater State to two hits through five innings. Sophomore Alyssa Verroneau was tagged for her first loss of the season. In the three innings that Verroneau pitched, she gave up 6 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits. She had a walk and a strikeout on the game.

In the second game, Wheaton College senior Jodi Moynagh pitched a perfect game in five innings. This was the fifth perfect game in Wheaton College softball history. Junior Stephanie Pierce dropped to 0-5 on the year. Through four innings, Pierce gave up 12 runs (3 earned) on 10 hits. She also finished with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts.

Tomorrow, the Bridgewater State College softball team takes on a double-header versus Rhode Island College at 3:30 pm.
